Recreating OBDF 110 - Mesh Mashup: Selection and Refinement / HD Renders

So I very foolishly, and accidentally, deleted my blog posts for OBDF 110 by changing my G Suite account. From now on I will be downloading my blog posts so I have a record! Anyway, I am re-posting some photos here from the projects from last year and some snippets of what I remember from the challenges of the projects.
So for the next step we refined one of our mash-ups and refined it in mesh-mixer. I definitely liked this program a little more, it seemed from what I remember to allow for more control and options for modifying objects.

The feedback I got from my classmates was to work with the Daisy-In-Chains Mash up and add/refine the natural elements. I found more detailed daisies and handcuffs and created the vine-like links. I am really happy with the way this project turned out and I had fun playing with the renderings and light sources.

The concept is playing with the rigidity of handcuffs and the delicacy of flowers along with mixing imagery of power and protest. The flowers and vines, though the more delicate items, are strong in their own way. They are strong in that nature is enduring even though individual elements may be fragile. The fragility of the flowers also render the strength of the handcuffs useless.
