Recreating OBDF 110 - Papercraft Objects: Final Revision

Papercraft Objects: Final Revision

So I very foolishly, and accidentally, deleted my blog posts for OBDF 110 by changing my G Suite account. From now on I will be downloading my blog posts so I have a record! Anyway, I am re-posting some photos here from the projects from last year and some snippets of what I remember from the challenges of the projects.

Here is the final revision of my hot air balloon! I had a lot of fun with this project, and watched a few movies during the assembly process.

The inspiration for this object is from an adventure I went on with my mom in Cappadocia, Turkey. We went up at dawn for a hot air balloon ride and it was so peaceful and beautiful, until our rather rough landing!

Below are some of the printed layouts and the assembly process.

Assembling the basket.

Below are some images of cutting out the fire and assembling it as well as connecting the fire, the basket, and the support that holds the two. They both hang from a support that sits loosely within the balloon so it can be adjusted.

I put effort into the tiny fire even though you cant see it that well in the final project because it was such a memorable part of the balloon ride. Below is a photo of them inflating the balloon in the semi-dark.

Here is the assembled balloon, I used the glass for the assembly and to adjust the strings that held the fire and basket.

Below are the Rhino renders of the balloon.

And some more images:
